Against the Flow is a group of middle school aged self-advocates formed to meet their needs in achieving self determination and their role in the community. The group focuses on socialization, community participation, personal growth, self-determination and personal advocacy.
Against the Flow meets on Mondays in the early evening. Weekly activities vary from individual sharing of accomplishments and concerns to an educational session with a nurse from the Health Office. The group participates in community events, goes bowling, to the movies, and has video game nights.
Against the Flow does offer volunteer opportunities for high school and college students to work with the members of our group.
